          Richard A. Sprague, the founder and senior member of Sprague & Sprague, is one of the leading trial attorneys in the United States.  Mr. Sprague graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1953.  Following 2 years as a Voluntary Defender in the Defender Association of Philadelphia, he had a distinguished career as First Assistant District Attorney of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Mr. Sprague also  served as Special Prosecutor for Washington, Allegheny, Philadelphia and Delaware Counties, in Pennsylvania, and as special counsel to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Judicial Inquiry and Review Board. 

          He was Chief Counsel and Director of the United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations investigating the murders of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

          In over thirty years of private practice, Mr. Sprague has had broad civil and criminal trial experience, participating as lead counsel in state and federal litigation, at both the trial and appellate levels, representing plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of corporate, anti-trust, malpractice, domestic relations, estates, administrative, RICO, securities and constitutional cases.  His legal skill and creativity have resulted in many landmark judicial decisions in various areas of the law. 

          Mr. Sprague is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, numerous other federal appellate and trial courts, as well as the courts of Pennsylvania and New York.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the New York Bar Association and has served on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association. 

          Mr. Sprague has been a leader in the legal community, including being a member of the Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board, the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board, the United States Senate Judicial Nominating Commission, and currently serves as President Judge Emeritus of the Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline, formerly President Judge.  He formerly was a lecturer on Trial Tactics in Criminal Trials and on Advanced Criminal Procedure at the Temple University School of Law, now the Beasley School of Law, in Philadelphia and was a faculty member with the American Trial Lawyers Association.
