Representation of plaintiffs and defendants in claims against
professionals, including attorneys, engineers, accountants, insurance
brokers and healthcare providers.
The following are examples of our representation in this practice area:
Sprague & Sprague successfully tried a medical malpractice case
involving the wrongful death of a 76 year old man who underwent colo-rectal
surgery and subsequently developed a total breakdown of his anastomosis
(the surgical connection of his small bowel), resulting in septic shock,
a severe stroke and ultimately his death. A state court jury returned a
verdict in favor of the Firm's client in the amount of $6.5 million, one
of the largest medical malpractice verdicts in the state for the
wrongful death of a person more than 75 years old.
The Firm successfully tried a neurosurgical, medical
malpractice case involving the wrongful death of a young mother of two
children. A seven figure recovery was secured for the children following a
trial and appeals by opposing parties through Pennsylvania’s state
courts.
The Firm successfully tried a medical malpractice case involving the
wrongful death of a young family man who underwent gastroenterological
surgery. A multi-million dollar settlement was obtained on behalf of the
decedent’s family just before closing arguments to the jury following a
two-week trial.
We successfully tried a medical malpractice case against a health clinic
which failed to properly treat our diabetic client’s foot condition. A
substantial monetary settlement was recovered for our client following
trial.
The Firm obtained a significant monetary settlement in a medical
malpractice case arising from the performance of an invasive cardiac
procedure.
We obtained an eight figure settlement in a legal malpractice action
against two prominent law firms for damages sustained by our client due to
the firms’ delayed processing of patent filings.
When our clients’ multi-million dollar home was gutted by fire and their
insurance proved inadequate, Sprague & Sprague brought suit against
and obtained a favorable settlement from their insurance broker who had
misrepresented the extent of the coverage.
Sprague & Sprague has also successfully handled medical malpractice
cases involving obstetrical injuries.
